101 Dalmatians puzzle listed!

This cute 1960's puzzle featuring the 101 Dalmatians is now up for grabs in our shop...

find it here

I seriously wish cartoons were still made the old school way, or at least some of them! I know there are tons of sweet computer animated movies out there. Who doesn't love Nemo, Wall-E, Toy Story and the like? The last one I watched and was pleasantly surprised with was How to Train your Dragon... But still, there's something about the style of an animated movie done 100% by hand that is really appealing... not only the images are sweet but there's also a ton of work involved in doing everything by hand (coloring, drawing, inking) that makes vintage animated movies a true work of art.

Here's a vignette from the adorable 101 Dalmatians, showing how the doggy couple and the human couple came to be!

Light Project #13 from the Science Library Vol. I

How To Make A Rainbow

P1020412

-Place a large piece of white paper on the floor in front of a sunny window.
-Set a glass full of water on the window sill so that the bottom of the glass is extending slightly over the inside edge of the sill.
-The water in the glass acts as a prism and makes a spectrum on the white paper.

Tada!  Now you know how to make a rainbow when ever the feeling strikes!

This was just one of the many awesome experiments brought to you by the How and Why Wonder book of Science Experiments in the Science Library Vol. I...check it out here.

Our very first post!

We are christening this blog space today with our very first post featuring some of the treasures that we found yesterday.
Holler!

This little baby is waiting for some love.  It was made in Chicago by the Imperial Camera Corp. sometime in the 1970's.  Aesthetically it's in good condition and the shutter still works so we have high hopes! It does need a few parts before we can get it working.  Keep an eye out for it in the shop (we'll list is as soon as it works).

P1020363
This is a rare Chess Clock from the Bohemia company of West Germany!  I think it's so amazing that it says West Germany on the front and also on the bottom. It looks very mid century modern and is in working order...you can even hear time ticking away.  Find it in the shop here
